Loulé Market takes place every Saturday in an emblematic red domed building that dates back to the beginning of the twentieth century.
It is one of the region´s most famous markets, and regularly attracts people from all over the Algarve, and a place where goods from the local producers can be found, plus fresh fish and other seafood, dry fruits, regional specialties and handcrafts.
You can also visit the Moorish castle and the old town. Take a walk through the picturesque narrow shopping streets, with stalls selling everything from food, to clothes and leatherwear, and copper goods to souvenirs. You will have enough free time to visit the gypsy market, a must for those who like bargains. On the way, make the almost mandatory stop at the renowned ” Café Calcinha ” frequented for many years by António Aleixo, one of Portugal’s most beloved poets, and enjoy a unique flavor experience by tasting of the famous ‘Folhado’ of Loulé, or the best known ‘Pastel de Nata.´
